Power Automate Savings: Show how much time your automation really saves

With the new "Savings" feature in Power Automate, Microsoft has released a powerful tool to make the added value of automation measurable.
But how does it all work – and how can you use it to make the impact of your solution directly visible?
What is the Savings feature?
In Power Automate, you can now estimate for each flow how much time an automated process saves compared to the manual version .
The whole thing is available directly in the Flow Designer via a dedicated tab: Here you specify:
how long a manual process would have taken,
how many people carry it out,
how often the flow runs.
Power Automate then automatically shows you how many minutes you save in total per month or year – and thus the return on investment of your solution .
Practical example: Automating construction daily reports
A good practical example:
Creating construction daily reports – a process that previously took over 30 minutes per report:
manually filling out paper forms on the construction site,
Transport to the office,
manual scanning, archiving and further processing.
Today, the entire process is recorded digitally using a Power App , and the PDF is automatically generated and distributed using Power Automate Flow .
🎯 Result: 30 minutes vs. under 1 minute.
This time saving can now be documented and evaluated in the flow.
How the configuration works
Open your flow in the Flow Studio
Click on the new "Savings" icon in the top right corner and activate the function
Specify:
How long does the process take manually (e.g. 30 minutes)?
What is the current hourly rate for a person performing this process manually? (e.g., €30/h)
Save – done.
The flow will then automatically show you the weekly / monthly / annual time and money savings over time
Why this is important
Especially in companies where many small solutions are created , it is often difficult to communicate the actual added value.
With the new Savings feature you can:
make your impact visible ,
create transparency ,
and increase acceptance of citizen development .
